ork for this website. It comes in second only to the Grand Coco Bay Hotel. Why are both of these hotels so popular? We were wondering the same thing ourselves. Perhaps they advertise more heavily than the other hotels. Grand Coco Bay is good because it offers a great budget all inclusive option for those traveling with families. It is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but it is a decent hotel in Playa del Carmen.
The Mosquito Beach Hotel on the other hand is a little different. This is an adults only hotel which attempts to be both chic and stylish. The reviews on the internet are mixed, it would
appear most people either love it or hate it. They feature 33 rooms with groovy finishes and modern furniture. The hotel itself is just steps from the beach, literally, and it is a block away from the downtown area. Perfectly placed if you are looking to have some fun and excitement. They offer three tiers to their rooms, Sunrise, Breeze, and White Sands, with prices following suit. The resort is a bit expensive, but the location makes up for that for some. The rooms are a bit small, but if you are in Playa to party, then staying in your room is the least of your concerns.
What you do get is a great exciting atmosphere away from children and annoyances and close to the night clubs and night life of Playa.
Don’t let what you read on the internet color your opinions. If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation with large spacious rooms and empty beaches, then move along, the Mosquito Beach Hotel isn’t for you. But if you are looking for some excitement and a hotel perfectly situated on the beach and practically in the heart of Playa- then this is the place of your dreams. Just be prepared to pay for it.
